Tietoja minusta I'm a fiction author whose written creations inhabit various magazines, anthologies, and drawers. These include over 30 publications, the likes of ChiZine, Bare Bone, The Harrow, Flesh and Blood, Until Someone Loses an Eye, and Darkness Rising. While preparing for the forthcoming collapse of civilization, I enjoy living in Southern California in a moderately haunted Victorian farmhouse with my life partner, Lisa. I'm currently working on many stories and novels and I'm losing my hair, though not because of the ghosts. Vacation, my first published novel, debuted last year from Raw Dog Screaming Press, and this year will see the release of my short story collection, Sheep and Wolves.

If there are any reviewers interesting in reading Vacation, feel free to contact me.

Here are some of my short stories published online. If you'd like to do me the honor of checking any of them out, I'd love to hear what you think.

Parsnip the Artist (a story for the kids at heart)

cool! can't wait for the new book. i will check out the novella, too.

~chris
hey jeremy! hope everything is going well for you. have anything coming out soon? i recommended vacation to a friend of mine and he ended up getting a copy from amazon and he said he liked it! :) so you have a small fan club in scottsdale, az now. anyway, take care!
Hi Jer, just read The Camp and it was great. Real nasty stuff, but a nice vein of dark humour too. I'm gonna keep a look out for your novel and read the rest of your shorts when I get the chance.
Jeremy, I just read Camp. WOW. How creepy! Loved it!!
Carrie
Jeremy,

Nice of you to drop by! The God of Small Things got me interested in reading Asian lit -- and I'm southeast Asian, so it's funny that I had to be inspired to read Asian lit more.

I'm hesitating on naming an ultimate favorite right now, but Life of Pi, Kitchen Confidential and Kavalier and Clay would come close. :)
Hi Jeremy-

I honestly don't have a favorite novel(s). There are so many I enjoy that I couldn't even pick a couple.

As for Buffy season 8, I like it so far. It almost makes up for the series being over. It's the first comic I ever read actually. :)

~Angela
Hi Jeremy, just finished reading Camp and Parsnip the Artist, loved both, particularly the latter, very simple yet very direct.

wdyt
Buffy Season 8 is not bad--better than I expected!

K
Thanks for the friend invite. Looking forward to reading some of your work.

Ha! What a question...the answer could take a lifetime. :) My favorite novel of all time is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde because of the gritty way that it exposes the human condition. Kurt Vonnegut is also very good at this. As a whole I tend to gravitate toward books of dystopia such as 1984 by George Orwell and The Giver by Lois Lowry. Although I consider myself to be happy and upbeat I have a love for the dark writings of Poe, Anne Rice, and the twisted life experiences of Hunter S. Thompson. I devour crazy plays like "The Skin of Our Teeth" by Thorton Wilder. I have also been heavily drawn to the fantastical humor of Douglas Adams and Roald Dahl. The last skimming of the iceberg I will mention is my obsession with comics and graphic novels: Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Frank Miller, Bill Willingham, to name a few... (Maybe this has something to do with the fact that my uncle owns a comic book store?) Books have always transported me into other worlds with different rules and perhaps that is why I enjoy reading as much as I do. :) Do you have any recommendations? I would love to hear your answer to the question of favorites.

Alliteration is always appropriate,

Laura :)
Jeremy:

re: your inquiry about favorite novels

Favorites are notoriously difficult to pin down, as most of us are quite fickle, and "favorite" is ill-defined in any case. However, the novel that had the greatest emotional impact on me at the time I read it (long ago, and far away) was undoubtedly Kristin Lavransdatter, but Sigrid Undset.
Jeremy,

Thanks for your friendship. There will be an opportunity next week for you to understand what this weird English guy that keeps contacting you is writing about. Next week you may wish to listen in on the UK based rock station KERRANG RADIO on Wednesday 5th December at 2230 (UK time). I will be interviewed on that station and I will be presenting my theory - which I call "Cheating The Ferryman". The intention is that I will do the interview on the 5th then at a date and time to be agreed in January I will return and there will be a full, open phone-in available to those who wish to ask me questions or join in the debate. This will last three hours or so. The initial interview can be listened to online at www.kerrangradio.co.uk I am hopeful that this will be a big debate. Over 20,000 people across the world - from Chile to China - have now read the book and I wish as many as possible to be aware of this event. It would be great if you could listen in. Indeed we could try and name-check this excellent site. Please feel free to let anybody else that you may think may be interested know about this.

Best Wishes

Tony
Any of your books available via audio? I get a lot more reading done that way, as I can multi-task...

Jeremy:

Thanks for the invitation. I hope you have enjoyed LibraryThing as much as I have.

Hi Jeremy,

It's always nice to find someone who has a lot of the same books as I have!

One favorite? That's much too hard a question, as my favorite changes acoording to my mood. Some books that I tend to re-read regularly follow.

Song of Solomon by Morrison
Love in the Time of Cholera by Garcia Marquez
The White Boy Shuffle by Beatty
Territory by Bull
Bottomfeeder by Fingerman
and anything written by Octavia Butler

I have a lot of favorites. If you're looking to get a handle on what I really like to read it might be more helpful to check my favorite authors list on my profile. A lot of those folks are on my "automatic buy" list.

Thanks for asking. I am interested to read your work now.
Complicated question, depending heavily upon genre.

In no particular order, then:

The Demon's Sermon on the Martial Arts, Issai Chozanshi
The Unfettered Mind, Takuan Soho (a translation of three letters by him)
Liber Aleph, Aleister Crowley
Sha'are Orah, Joseph Gikatilla,
A number of books by David Edits (pre-Athalus)
I'm enjoying Jim Butcher these days as well
The Adept series by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Turner Harris

Oh, really, the list goes on and on I guess.
Jeremy,

1. I'm impressed that you actually browse people's books. I guess books are truly important to you. Bravo!

2. Interestingly, I don't read much novels, so after I picked up Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code (and subsequently finished it within a day) I bought every Dan Brown's books and read them all.

3. My feeling re: Dan Brown is that he is a very ADD-friendly writer. He writes his books based on a tweaked algorithm for writing, so you might find them a bit formulaic, but it does grow on you.

4. Angel & Demons is the prequel to Da Vinci Code, but I don't recommend it, and he is clearly still tweaking his writing formula.

5. I recommend Deception Point, which is a mix of secrets, politics, and global policy. A very fun read. As with all novels, I recommend getting a hard cover--but that's just me :)

Glad to be a new friend!

Cheers,
See-ming
Sati by Christopher Pike is my favorite book of all time. It's not in print any longer, which is a shame. If you enjoy short stories, Nine Tomorrows by Asimov is wonderful, but again, out of print. *laughs* Story of my life.

There are a lot of wonderful books in print, but it seems like my favorites never are.
Jeremy,
Thanks for sending me the post ! Sorry it took so long for me to reply. A bit busy this time of year :>) As soon as things calm down a bit, I will take a look at your shelves and read through your profile.....Thanks again for your interest :>)
Hi Jeremy,
Thanks very much for the invite. I just read Parsnip the artist. I like your style, simple and direct. You know how to tell a story. I'll read more of your works. But how you can list among your favorite authors Brett Easton Ellis AND C.S. Lewis just beats me.
Well, I've read the Parsnip and Metal stories which you recommended. Though I can't say I could do a steady diet of that tone of story, I will say they read well and kept me interested and left me thoughtful. Thank you, and I hope you have a great time on LT after your harsh introduction. :)
Thanks for the reply...an animal lover can't be all bad...good luck in your writing endeavors. Polly
G'day,

Thank you for the friend request. I accept, with pleasure. It may be a while before I get a chance to read your work, but I will get around to it eventually. I hope you enjoy LibraryThing!
How do I add favorite authors? I'm a bit confused about it.
Unlike some testy people, I try to avoid turning down offers of friendship! Greetings, Jeremy.

As a fellow author, I have to ask: HOW did you get Piers Anthony to review your book?!?
I'll be sure to let you know what I thought when I read one, Jeremy. :)
thanks for the add. may i read your book and review it?
Just finished reading Camp. Wow! Absolutely amazing. Can't wait to read more.
By the way, have you read any Christopher Moore (Lamb, Stupidest Angel, Dirty Job)? He's one of the few authors out there who can make me guffaw. He fills his books with quirky characters and crazy circumstances. I don't know if you like that sort of thing, but I highly recommend him for days when you feel like absorbing good vibes.
Hey Jeremy!
Thanks for the friend request.
I look forward to read your online stories.

Magdalena
Hi Jeremy,

Many thanks for your kindness!

I would love to read your work.

Your house sounds great as well.

Wishing you the very best.

Sheree
OK, Jeremy.
You convinced me!
Have a nice day.
Thanks for the invite, I have accepted with pleasure.
Kind regards from Holland
Thanks for getting in touch, Jeremy. Power to your writing elbow!
Best wishes from London,
Sam
Jeremy,

Your alliteration has really amused me. I will try to enjoy the fantastic fates but I am rather worried about being tripped up by those dastardly frolicking phantom footstools!

Cheers - and have a great day.

Tony
looking forward to reading some of your stuff, thanks for the invite!
I see, one soul and two pairs of eyes at a time...cool. I'll dig a little deeper. Thanks.
Thank you for inviting me to be your friend. As you can see I have accepted with pleasure. I haven't read any of your work, but I surely will do and I'm looking forward to it.

Best wishes from Sweden.
Hey, thanks for the invite! Can't wait to read all of your work.
Cheers.
Thanks Jeremy. I looked a little lonely without any friends.
Congratulations on your writing successes!
Thanks for the invite...
Thank you so much for the add! I can't wait to explore your short stories online and am very interested in reading Vacation.
Hi Jeremy! Thanks for the add. It's great to have another new friend. Best of luck with "Vacation". It sounds great. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

- Patrick
Hey there. We just became friends and have only one book in common. Also, you're a cute straight boy and I'm an old (43) gay guy. But that's nothing. The most disturbing thing to me is that you enjoy sci-fi but don't have Gibson listed as a favorite author. Have you read Idoru or Mona Lisa Overdrive? If not, then you should.

Keep in touch. Love the B&W.

Ken.
I am also more active in www.shelfari.com with the username as warrenlib.

Stop on over....
I just received a friend invite from you -- do I know you? Too many online aliases tend to confuse me. :)
Hey, thanks for the invite. I liked your website, and while I don't yet have time to read all your stories I did read two - they were great! (especially "The Camp").
Hi Jeremy. Thank you very kindly for the invitation. :) I shall have to check out some of your writing asap - I just had a look at Vacation on Amazon - I've put it on my Xmas list!
Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for the invitation! I have, since your invite, ordered your book "Vacation" from one of my Swedish book clubs and I'm really looking forward to reading it! And I managed to find it in English, which I'm happy for, because sometimes stuff gets lost in translations!
Annika
Thanks for the invitation. I accept with pleasure. Your reviews are intriguing, as indeed is your profile. Why you would choose a middle-aged lady with a quietly warped sense of humor, I'm not sure I understand, but I'm flattered. I think. I will definately read a short story or two as soon as I can. The novel will have to wait until this summer - my life is in hyperdrive until that time. Mary Lou
Thanks for the invite. I am ALWAYS looking for something good to read and Vacation sounds like it may be right up my alley. When I get my hands on it I'll let you know what I think. Thanks again.
Intriguing reviews for VACATION - I've added it to my Amazon wish list (at least there my wishes eventually come true!), and I'll check out your online fiction soon enough. Cheers!
Thank you for the friendship add, it's always nice to meet an author, especially one who deals with such unusual subjects. I also have to congratulate your interview with the devil! He is quite a tricky fellow, but you held your own. I think I’m going to give your novel Vacations a shot and once I get a hold of the evil book, I’ll let you know what I think.

Thanks again,
Charles Clemons
Oh, and make sure to email Abby for a LT Author badge!
Your stories look mightily interesting, can't wait to give them a read. Thanks for the friend request!
Any time Jeremy. I appreciate the work you put into your stories. They're good.
As far as 'Vacation', I just have to save up my pennies to get a copy and then I'll let you know about it. I expect to have fun reading it too!

brett
Hi jeremy
Thanks for the friend request. I look forward to reading your short stories. Vacation sounds great too.

Vincent
Hi Jeremy, thanks for the Friend request.
I was trying to remember where I knew your name from. so I did the usual...Googled your name and...AHAH! Now I remember! 'Coyote' is one of my all time favorite stories and I've been wanting to get 'Vacation' ever since it came out.

Very cool! I like the way you write. Please don't stop!

brett
