Tietoja minusta I'm a lover of books (obviously). I also work as a legal assistant, am a mother of two sons and a wife to a NASCAR obsessee (which basically means I'm a single parent every summer weekend LOL) I'm a more recent fan of manga/anime and have been spending an exorbitant amount of time reading/watching it. My more traditional literature loves are romances and fantasies, although I do try to fit in a non-fiction or classic here and there.

I've also self-published a couple teen, urban fantasies which I would love to share with people should they be so inclined. If you're curious please feel free to check out the link to my website. In addition to information about my book I also love to make recommendations for other great teen, urban fantasy stories I've discovered and try to keep up a suggested "book of the month".

Just wanted to make a note about the manga in my catalog. I've started keeping track of plot points and characters in the "comments" section so I'm not putting spoilers in the reviews section. This is for my own benefit as I have a hard time keeping track of what is going on now that I'm actively reading so many different series. However, I did want to give a heads up to people so they know that my comments will and do contain spoilers.

Tietoja kirjastostani These are either books I own or books I have taken out from my local public library. I love my library system! I have more books than I have room for them, but wouldn't have it any other way! Without my public library I would probably be broke from buying all the books that I want to read and would have to move into a bigger house to accomodate them. If you're looking at my catalog the books I've taken out from the library are tagged "library" and the ones I own are tagged "owned".

Thanks for your review of Skin Hunger, I've never heard of that book before and it sounds really interesting. I'm going to wait for the paperback version since it comes out it September and also because I've got about a million other books to read! But thanks for helping me add more books to my wishlist. ;)
Why thank you! Glad that you enjoyed it! I'm glad you have added it to your list-- I promise, you will not regret it!
No Problem They are great Arent They!? ^ ^ The First Episode Has Yaoi right off the bat! ahah
It is a Great Anime Its Like...The Hottest Yaoi hah! Thats like the first Yaoi I ever like watched I usually only know couples and watch the animes like In Naruto when Sasuke and Naruto kiss but...thats what started SasuNaru
Hey! Whats Up So Your That Guy That Joined My Anime Group!? Kool ^ ^ Nice To Meet Ya Im Morgan! ^ ^
Yeah, the amount of prep is insane. My school does really well at MCAS, though, so I guess it pays off. However, my friend and I aren't allowed to take the biology MCAS this year because we took the engineering one last year. XD Half of my bio class hates us.

Aw, man, that stinks out loud. You've probably already watched the disc in the insane amount of time that it's taken me to respond to this, you're probably already halfway through the series. So, if this is true, what do you think of it?

Man, I haven't watched the OVA yet. Curse my laziness! *starts going to Youtube but stops, because it's blocked on the school computers*

That's just what happened to Immortal Rain! The creator finished off one of the books at a killer cliffhanger and hasn't picked it up in years!

I've heard of Karin, but only in passing. What's it about?

No, but I really want to see a series called Nerima Daikon Brothers. Apparently it's a lot like the Blues brothers, and it's made by the same person who did excel Saga. Which more or less means it'll be totally great.

My german class also made a video recently, and I can dig up the link if you want to watch it. Just a warning, it's completely in German and has no subtitles, not to mention completely off the wall.

Toodles!
I love the picture, and had to jot a note--I just added an assignment for you on the Go Review that Book game thread, and then as an afterthought I looked back on the thread for the date that my earlier book had been assigned (I took forever with it because of grading--it's been about six weeks). The reason I'm writing is that I found by coincidence, you were the one to assign me one last lol. Anyhow, thought I'd give you a strange coincidence to note for the day. Good reading...
Love your new picture! It sparkles!
Thanks. So far I love the series, too. I even think that it could be as great as the Kizuna series by Kazuma Kodaka, which is until now my all-time favorite.
Okay, so I think I'm going to start reading "Roswell: Nightscape" soon, but I find myself wondering what happened in "A new Beginning". Would you mind giving me a little synopsis? I'm sure that you don't have to have read it to understand "Nightscape", but I am still curious as to what preceded it. Thanks so much!
I liiiiiiiiiiive!
MCAS wasn't that bad, all things considered. I have another one in May, though.
And now, to continue the great conversation:
^^ I'm glad you liked it. And yes, I am enjopying the series so far, sorry if I was unclear.
Oh, it's hard to not be fond of Tamaki. All of the mad escapades he gets into are just so terribly amusing. XD And his self-delusion is also quite amazing. Yeah, I'm a Nekozawa fan. I loved the episode where he was trying to become closer with his sister.
I'm constantly surprised by what I can find through the library. Ah, Inuyasha. That is a very good series, but beware: it is also a series that goes on and on and on and on. That doesn't change the fact that it's an engaging story. As for Please Save My Earth, I got terribly confused by the sixth book, and just stopped trying to comprehend it.
Oh, I remmeber that world in the manga. Lecourt was the world's name, I believe. That shot of Syaoran just standing there, holding the book with tears pouring out of his eyes was...wow. (for lack of any sufficient word) It was so sad, I just wanted to hug Kurogane. Yeah, that's what I was wondering.

And if you're having trouble with the response, just open a new tab or window so you can go back and reference it. That's what I do.

Toodles!
6 months??!! You have the patience of a saint. I hope xxxHolic comes in much sooner. BTW, where does your library shelve them? Recently, I was in a small library in Alexandria, VA that shelved them in the fiction section. In fact, I think they only had 1 section with all the fiction in it.
The dragon-riding cat is Scooter. (It may have been dragon-attacking cat, since some of the pictures show dragon ear chewing. :) He is one of the abandoned kittens I rescued last fall. His brother, Bandit, wouldn't pose on the dragon, but I may have gotten a good picture of him with my jinxlet.

It's been 2 weeks since you requested it, so it should come in soon, right?
Hello, and thank you for your interest in ConBust!

This year's schedule can be found here. This page contains both a downloadable and web-viewable copy of the schedule, which includes the weekend anime schedule.

Hope you can make it!
Thanks for the link! Sorry i haven't responded in ages, but life just happens like that.
I have MCAS next week. *whines*
"Love in the Time of Cholera" which you couldn't finish - just write the review saying why you didn't like it and get the next GRtB. It's the reviews people are interested in, not whether you finished it, and if you don't post the review, someone else might attempt to read it thinking it was going to be good.

Love the Pegasus avatar.

Fox.
Sometimes it's hard for me to know at the beginning of a series if it will be a "keeper" or not. Some are just entertaining enough to read once, but a few are like novel series where the early details were there but I didn't realize the importance to the overall story because I was focusing on the current plot; by the time the fourth book comes out, the background details of book 1 have faded and need refreshing. Luckily I'm a hoarder, so I usually have easy access to the earlier books. (The down side of being a hoarder is when I know I probably won't read it again—or get around to reading it—I still have a hard time getting rid of books.)
Hello. I had to wait until I was home to check the volumes and it's a good thing I did, because I would have told you probably V3 or V4, but it turns out that Watanuki visits the Legal Drug pharmacy in V1 for about 3 pages. Have fun rereading.
Thank you! :D The anime is really different than the manga. I've only gotten partway through the Hanshin arc, but man, they're really different.

Where does TR begin, and where does Tsubasa end?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6U1MuQ8e... This is the video that I told you about. It's called "Strange Names"

It's good that you found a comprehendable site. Thanks but no thanks,I've already found a place.I felt bad for him at the beginning, but I loved the way the episode went. The iscussion between Kyoya's and Tamaki's father was really amusing. Who's your favorite character in that series? Mine is Nekozawa. X3

I wonder why the pronoun translation is so strange. It might have something to do with all of the varying degrees of formality in the Japanese language.

I've read a bit of D.N. Angel, and it's pretty good, but I'm not sure about the anime. I'll ask my friend, because she's a huge fan of that series. I recommend Bleach the most out of them all. The only issue I have is with the animation itself. It starts out really shiny and good, but after a while it just gets a little odd. To quote my friend, "I could tell when they stopped focusing on Rukia because she actually looked normal!" The storyline is really good though, and it's very engaging.

Sandman can be really creepy, no doubt about it. I've read Stardust too, and one of my chorus-mates said that American Gods is a must-read.

Toodles!
Watanuki and Syaoran get really funky bed-head, but you're right. I noticed that, and thought it was really odd. *scruffs both their heads* "That tricky magician with glasses." Hopefully we'll be able to meet some version of him soon.
It would be really freaky if everything turned out to be a dream. I think my head might explode. I don't know if you've read it, but the whole dream/reality theme is really making me think of the Sandman series (by Neil gaiman). One of the books (book 5, A Game of You, to be prescice) discusses the difference between dreams and reality, and makes the argument that dreams are their own "reality."
The clarity of what happens is a definite plus for anime. I've found a site that streams it, but episode 3 doesn't work, so I have to hunt down another site, but the disc will probably end up coming first. *waits*

What are good usernames for the anime on YouTube? I know that there arew a lot of sub-par subs, but the majority of the ones I've found are spanish, and I don't speak spanish.
My friend has some Ouran discs that are a little less than legal, and the appalling sub quality just makes us laugh. do you think that the switching genders might be a result of the fact that Haruhi is really a girl, or is it for other characters?
I watched the video, and it was great. XD I'll send you the link for a good vid i found once I'm home (my school doesn't allow YT.)
Well, there's the bell, bye!
Fai's my favorite too. (I got the icon here: http://www.digik.net/avatars/series/20 -one of my favorites is the Kuro-tan one on the first page) It's hard not to love him. CLAMP has a knack for creating very intricately developed characters. I instantly thought of him when Watanuki lost his eye. Ooh, that's an interesting theory. Mine is that Syaoran and Watanuki are the-oh, what's the term? The people that share the same soul in different worlds. I think they are like that, although your theory brings up a very interesting point. Toya's hair is black, while Sakura's is light brown. Coincidence? As we have learned, there's no such thing. ;) I really want to know what ended up happening to the country (Toya in particular) after the attack of the goons.

I spend a fair amount of time there, but I haven't looked through YouTube to find the series. What are some good users for it? I wish I spoke Japanese, so subs please. Some of the fight scenes in the book get confusing, so I feel they'll be easier to understand animated. It took me a while to find the link-if it was a snake it would have bit me-but the video was amazing. Very well done by whomever made it.

Thank you! A netfix envelope came, and I got all excited but it was just Michal Clayton. Oh well. It should come soon. I do like watching the animes dubbed, but I make a round with each (only if the anime was good of course, which I fully expect this to be)

I would go on more too, but that would be ridiculous. Toodles!

P.S-I searched, but I couldn't find the typo. Before I go nuts, what was it?
thanks for joining!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I just started my quest to acquire the four Roswell books that take place where the show ended, and wow! Have you looked into purchasing the two you don't have? The cheapest I've seen "A New Begging" for is $63 (hang on tight to your copy)! And people are asking $200+ for "Turnabout", and most of them are ex-lib copies! Ouch! Anyway, I ordered Nightscape and Pursuit, hopefully that will fill the Roswell void for now. Do you know what the deal with the other two is? Did they just not print that many or what? I just want to read them, not sell my organs to science to own them ... can you imagine havening the most expensive book in your library be a mass market paperback that originally sold for $6? LOL

PS Here's a link to a cool site with some info about all three of the series:

http://www.antarians.com/roswell/bookgui...
Hello there! No, I don't mind you asking at all. :-) First off, I discovered by going to wikipedia, that the DVDs are being released along with limited edition volumes of TSR #21, 22, & 23 - #21 was released in Nov 07, #22 was released in Jan 08, and #23 will be released in March 08.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsubasa:_Re...

I buy most of my imports from JPQueen.com. I've always had really good results with this company, which carries new and used items. Currently they are carrying only the V.21 limited edition, here: http://www.jpqueen.com/onlineshop/produc...

However, once you've created an account, you can request that they add a new copy of V.22 limited edition to the store, here: http://www.jpqueen.com/onlineshop/produc....

They're usually really good about honoring requests, especially for newer stuff. To give you more of a chance, I'll also request it. Since I've been a memeber (and a big spender) for over 5 years, my request might get more notice. I hope this helps you out. :-)
Thx for adding me as an "interesting library"! I'll be checking out yours as well as your books. :)I pretty much only read SciFi&Fantasy and most recently Urban Fantasy in all its variations from "naughty" to YA. I have mostly been enjoying books with strong, quirky, and flawed female protagonists in the past couple of weeks. I guess it's an identification thing *L*

Happy reading & writing!

Internet shopping will be my downfall, I fear. I manage to write everyday, or edit something. But I tend to want to surf and shop while I'm at it, instead of working through and they playing. Kind of like right now, I'm supposed to be keying in my last ten pages (of 453) of edits from hardcopy!
I passed the 50k. But the ms isn't finished. I've been working on edits for another that I was working on before nano. Once I finish the edits, I'll go back to my nano ms and finish the first draft. I have two other projects that were also in progress. So, I have a lot to do.

What do you have in the works?
It's dark urban fantasy with romance thrown in, lol. My work is too dark to call it paranormal romance.
Yes, I'm nanoing this year. I'm at 40k, about half way through the ms. Are you giving it a spin?
Hee he. Thanks! It had to be done. ;-)
Hey there!

I was out in California in September and I took a little trip to Covina, which, as you may know was used for the city of Roswell, NM in "Roswell". I though you might enjoy seeing my photos:

Hey this is Cats57 aka Dianne from the paranormal group - I just wanted to let you know that you are a sort of neighbor of mine. I'm in Connecticut, and one of my internet/Books & Chat buddies is also from Greenfield. I used to visit that town tons when I was younger. I adored the Mohawk Trail!

Happy Reading
Fun! I want to be your myspace friend too! :-) I'll try to find you.

Deb
I really enjoyed Ron Gamer's book, Wild Chance. It's the third in his Chance series. I met Ron on myspace, liked him as a person, and have been trying to support the new authors I meet there. I don't usually read adventure novels, so he recommended I start with Wild Chance because he introduces a teen girl character in that book.

I wrote a review for him on amazon.com. I won't repost it here, but you can find it on his Wild Chance product page. He's a good writer and storyteller.

Deb
You're most welcome for the pick. I can relate as I'm currently reading The Shadow of the Wind by Zafon for a similar reason. I hope Love in the Time of Cholera is as good as The Shadow of the Wind! It's terrific so far (100 pages in). Best - adamallen
Jen,

If you didn't watch the new vampire show Moonlight (Fridays at 9pm on CBS), you should! I think it's going to be my new obsession *sigh*.

OMG, I hope they don't cancel this one!!
Glad the review helped. And no, the rest stop thing isn't strange, kinda neat actually. I'm from Maine originally, which was most of the prompting to pick the book up. I got it years ago in a Sam's Club of all places (if they don't have Sam's Club in your area, that's like a Costco's only owned by the Walmart guy) so I don't know how available the book is.

If you know any good titles dealing with REAL New England Ghosts I'd love to hear 'em. I could use more in that genre....
Once I quit giggling about your cats and rabbits post, I came over to scope out your library.

My daughter loved the Catwings series as a youngster and somehow we started collecting cats-with-wings Christmas ornaments. Most of the collection are cat angels. Your cat fairy has such an unangelic grin that I've fallen in love completely.
Just to let you know, as you enjoyed Sorcerer's Legacy, Janny Wurts is also an LTauthor (user Jannywurts). She posts a bit in the GreenDragon and FantasyFans.

Fox
Jen,

I read another great one that I think you would enjoy. Just reading the description doesn't really tell you how much is intertwined in this story. "Here, There Be Dragons", by James A. Owen. Very cool! Have a great one! ;-p

Christy
Jenson,

I finished Fantasy by Lori Foster this morning. That was it! I'm going to pick up the companion book to it about Shay now too.

It's a pretty good book. It's small, so fewer details and less story, but a really good book.

Ireland
Jen,

Sherrilyn Kenyon was good and bad. She is a wonderful speaker, very funny - though I think she might lay it on a little thick. She must have had two jokes for every question that was asked, it sounded like stand up comedy. But I really enjoyed her. However, it was bad because I never got near her. People must have shown up quite early to see her, and the bookstore handed out numbered tickets to get the book signed. I, unfortunately had to work that day and didn't get out to the bookstore until about 10 minutes after she started talking. By 10pm she was only on person number 30 out of 70 tickets and I had to catch the metro home before the stations closed. So I didn't get my book signed. *sad*

But she was really entertaining and my friend and I had fun. Hopefully I'll get to see her again sometime and actually get to talk to her.
heyy there doin great
Hello!

I was just looking through some old posts. I know you read Storm Front and had missed the Dresden Files when they were on. The first season came out on DVD yesterday! I can't wait to get it (even though I've already seen them all)! I hope you get a chance to check it out, it has some differences from the books, but they're all awesome changes.

Hugs!

I'm off to see Sherrilyn Kenyon *so excited can hardly sit still*. Wish you could come too!
remember to check the Great YA suspense/murder/adventure/fantasy page every so often
Hello!
I noticed some of your posts on the topic of self-publishing in a couple different groups, and thought I might say "hi." I am new to LibraryThing and also new to self-publishing. I didn't make it very far reading some of the comments about self-pub in the Writing Readers group. Some of them were very discouraging and almost mean. I am oh so tired of hearing "just work on your skill" because if agents and publishers discard your work without reading it, how does skill help you?

I recently started a customer discussion on Amazon for self-pubbed authors and have had a more positive response than I see here.

Oh well, no more soapbox. I just felt like saying hello to someone on LT who has been through a similar experience!
Dianne Salerni
heyy how are ur cats??~
Jen,

I found an old thread where you asked for romances about best friends who become lovers, I really liked "Real Women Don't Wear Size 2" by Kelley St. John. Not my usual type (you know I read a lot of what you do), but the first few pages caught me and I really liked it. Quite funny.
Hi, Jenine! How are you? Thanks for being my LibraryThing friend. I'm roaming all over the Internet these days .

Lisa :)
Hi Jenine - It was great meeting you at Readercon, too! I enjoyed talking to you, and I'm glad I was able to get your books right from the source! Did you enjoy seeing Holly Black? My 10 year old had the great pleasure of going to Holly's kaffeeklatsch (she's a big fan of the Spiderwyck books), and Holly was very kind to her.
The LibraryThing panel was terrific - there was so much excitement in the room about books and LT! And it was wonderful to meet so many LTers at the con, too.
Maggie
remember to check the Great YA Suspense/murder/Adventure/Fantasy page every so often!
I only read the first Mona Lisa book, but I do plan to read the next one. I read that you didn't think it was as good as the first one, though.

How is that book the touch of the wolf or something?i looked to see what it was about.was it good when u read it?
Yes,I did. Much better than the sequel. It was a fun, quick read. I wish they were a little longer, because I enjoy the worldbuilding and would have liked to see more of it,but it was fun. Thanks
. Glad you enjoyed it,I would have felt guilty otherwise.
Jen -
Just curious if you've ever read The Spectrum Chronicles by [[Thomas Locke]], [Light Weaver], [Dream Voyager], [Path Finder], and [Heart Chaser]

These are a YA scifi/fantasy series and often sold as Christian Inspiration, but I've never had a problem enjoying them just as straight fantasy (like the Chronicles of Narnia).

Unfortunately, they may be out of print, I know I had trouble getting my copies and that was several years ago. But I'm sure there are used bookstores out there that carry them or the library! Anyway, I've always loved them ;-p And wondering if you had read them too!

P.S. I went out and bought Tinker (because you seemed to like it so much). I'll let you know what I think when I finally get through all of my library books!

Hey,
I hope you enjoy the third Midnighters!
We seem to share quite a few books, do you have any recommedations?

waitingformyvampire.
Hi, I saw your comment on Elantris in the What are You Reading now group. Have you visited the Green Dragon group? Brandon Sanderson joined us in our discussions when we read through Elantris together. There are some great discussions covering your question there. Come on by. :)
I'm glad you liked the choice-I just checked it out of the library and am eager to see what you thought of it.
awww,i luv that drawing for ur pic! :)
Hi. "Go Review That Book!" is meant to encourage people to read and write reviews, so it means write a review for a book that the poster hasn't already reviewed. I'll try and rewrite the rules to make this clear.
Thanks for your kind comments RE: my reviews. My blog kind of doubles as my reading journal, so I review stuff I read there and then just transfer it into my LT catalog. I also owe YOU a big thank you for turning me onto Sherrilyn Kenyon! I love those books. I also find myself composing dark-hunter fan fiction in my head at work! :D
I also don't read much non-fiction.. and almost decided not to read Glass Castle - I'm sure happy with my final decision.
I just finished The glass castle : a memoir by Jeannette Walls - then I read your review.. you certainly nailed the flavor of the book in your review.. well done!

Tom
Nope, I didn't know she wrote Harry Potter fanfic. I actually don't read fanfic because I don't like things ruining my idea of the story. But City of Bones was really interesting! Although I didn't really like the twist with Jace and Clary. It was very...unusual, and now where's the romance part of the story? I always like a good romance =)
Hey, thanks for the comment on my 50 Books Challenge list thing! I'm glad you enjoyed the reviews, and I hope they've helped you with deciding what to read next! I always love doing that. Oh, and check out the newest review I wrote of a fairly new book. I think you might be intrigued by it :)
Hawksong is my absolute favorite from her! When I was 13, In the forests of the night came out and totally inspired me to try and get published...which I never did...but it was still cool to see someone my age be able to do that.
LJ Smith is amazing. I just bought [Night of the Solstice] and [Heart of Valor] from Ebay. I am so excited. I just need 4 more books to complete my collection!

I know, strange fate was due in 1998, but I had heard through the grapevine that her daughter might have died and that was why she stopped writing. I've found some British Publishing companies that have claimed that they were going to publish it sometime this year for england.
I read the Bloody Jack book for school reading.i acculey thought it was quite a good book.I thought maybe it would be boring but i think it was a good book.
and yah,i wanted to see Blood and Chocolate too,but it isn't playing anymore.I'm going to wait till it comes on DVD to buy it because it looked good i guess from the previews but from what you said it dind't follow the books i might not even buy it,than becasue the book was really great and i liked it so much i finished it in 4 days.lol. ;D
Hi,i luv ur library!I can tell u like Werewolves.I think they're cool 2.U read "Blood and Chocolate" right?Did u enjoy it?I did.I finished it in 4 days and i really liked it. :)
That's a great Christmas present, haha. The Named (and its sequels if I like the first one) is actually on my to-read list, so I'm glad to hear good things spoken about it. Right now I'm reading July, July by Tim O'Brien. I read The Things They Carried for school and I loved it, so I want to check out his other works. Yes, this is a deviation from my normal reading list which includes tons of YA lit, but it's pretty good!
Hey Jenine! It's nice to find you here on LT. You have a lifetime account, which I'm very jealous of, hehe. Hope you're doing well! Read anything good lately?
Hope you enjoy Mr. Mortensen's books. He's very talented. :D
Thanks dl, for the more romance side of things that is one series that definitely intrigues me. :)
Hi, Jenine ~ I haven't read Jennifer Scales yet, but it's still on my TBR pile. Actually, I left it at work and keep forgetting to bring it home with me, so thanks for the reminder. I'll have to read it soon, as it's due back to the library in a week. It looks good, from what I've read of it (the first few pages).
Thank you for the bookmarks! Got them last night. Very cool. Stamp is cool too, as is the return address label. You rock, Demon!
I honestly don't remember Minerva Wakes, so I can't help with that. I do have Lisle's Diplomacy of Wolves on my TBR pile.
That said, I'm still going to pick up Beneath the Skin.(third book) Go figure.
Yes, you should read Beyond the Pale first. I actually liked it more than Past Redemption. As far as the series as a whole...it's not one of my favorites. It's not fresh in mind but I think it may be confusing with the history of the first book. Did you ever try Kim Harrison? I think you would like her Rachel Morgan series.
Hey DL, I saw that you picked up Russe's Past Redemption. IMO, you should read the first one before you read the second.
Nope I have not read it yet and wont for aT least a week probably longer. Toio many book to finish before i start any new ones.
what demonlover no Alan Garner?
>I checked out your Amazon listing but there was no book description (a problem I've also run in to). Do you have a website?

Yeah. Amazon doesn't do a very good job of posting the descriptions even if they are given one. Yes, I have a website:

http://sojourn.omnitech.net

You'll find all three of my books on there as well as links to the publisher, links to the art and various other info.

Kelly
Hey, DL ~ Did you just add some titles to your catalog? I just checked our shared books, and the number seems to have increased by 5.

Re your message: Okay, I'll do both once I figure out how. :)
Hi! I was halfway done with Night Pleasures when I realized I had to return Devil in Winter to the library today. I tried to get an extension but, not surprisingly, it's too popular so couldn't. Anyway, I finished Devil this morning, so I'll be going back to Night Pleasures tonight.

I just realized that I never did let you know that I received your book, if you wanted to discuss it. I love discussing books, so just let me know! I guess your next one is about due to come out and am looking forward to reading it too.

should do, then drop abby an email so she has somewthing in her records to keep their lawyer happy.
BTW how come you don't have your Picture on your authors page?
Time to nag them about reviews again.
Nope, If it was me. It isn't there now, Shame, I suppose it would be unoriginal for me to use now?

To me, Vampire Kisses was a little bit cliche; I don't like the idea of the Vampire's love having to be goth, but still, I enjoyed the story very much. :) Yes, I very much agreeeee; I think I would've liked Alexander more if I hadn't heard of Edward first! :)
Hullo! I just read the first chapter of your book online, and it's brilliant! It had me hooked, and I can't wait to purchase it. I didn't realize you were a writer ... ! :D And very nice choice of names; my [real] name's Annie. :)

♥ Silas
what part are you at?!?! I think it is such an interesting book. There are some interesting lessons learned. I also think it has an interesting outlook on death and new life, also fairies. write me as soon as you finish. I think your son might enjoy it too. Merry Christmas!
Yeah the Anita blake series started out very good but now has reached some weird craze of non-stop carnality. I finished the Harrison book and really enjoyed it. I have to order the rest of the books. I started The Smoke Thief by Shana Abe. Have you read Abe?
hmm, Michell Rowan; I would say somewhere in between. Not as fluffy as MJD, closer to Macalister. I'm almost done with The Good, The Bad and the Undead and I think Harrison is kinda a cross between Macalister (less frivolity, more drama) and Laurell Hamilton(minus the nonstop boinking). She has a strong female character that's a witch and it has vamps, demons, elves, pixies and fairies to boot. Pretty good if you don't mind a tad bit of mild thriller like in Hamilton's books.
Congrats Jenine on shiny gold button! I wanted to let you know I started the Kim Harrison books and I like them. They (amazon)are comparing Patricia Briggs to her, so I'll check out Briggs next. Harrison seems to be more fantasy also but I just started today. Hope you feel better.
My pleasure! I'll let you know when I receive it.

To respond to your comment about teeth being pulled, I'm too old to read books I don't like. If it hasn't hooked me by about page 100, or if I still absolutely hate it around page 50, I quit and go on to the next book on the pile. There are so many books calling to me to be read, I'll never finish them all before I die if I force myself to finish ones I dislike.
Thanks, Janine! It was my first NaNoWriMo, and I was so thrilled to win the purple bar! 50,447 words in one month! Yo! Even better, from some of the comments I've received from my crit group, it may have merit. I need to finish the first draft, then I'm going to rewrite it and send it out for critiquing. It's a historical romance set in 1773-1783, with a hint of mystery and a ghost. :)
Naw Undead ans Unwed isn't romance in spite of the publishers imprint. it is
Fluff.

Now Shards of honor by Lois McMaster Bujold, that's romance.
Hi, again, DL ~ Awhile back, someone in one of the groups asked me if "Self-Editing for Fiction Writers" was good. Was that you? If so, then the answer is definitely "yes."

I think every writer should have it on their shelf and that it should be de rigeur for beginning writers. (Judging by "The Shadow Within," it's not de rigeur for you, but it's a good reference book when you can't decide on rewrite whether something works.) :)

It's clear and concise and contains lots of examples covering all the important things such as dialogue mechanisms, pov, interior monologue, "show and tell," characterization and exposition, etc. that often get ignored by beginners and even, sometimes, by pros. It has good exercises at the end of each chapter ~ a few pages of error-filled prose that can be edited according to the lesson in the chapter. I find it very helpful.
Hi, DL ~ Never finished Dark Side of the Moon ~ didn't like it enough, and I was otherwise pretty busy. I think I started reading it when NaNo was looming, and I was more interested in getting ready for that. So, the answer to your question is, no, I never did read Night Pleasures, although now that you mention it, it's going on my TBR list, since you gave it such a good review.

Hope all is well. Haven't seen you on any of the boards in the last couple of days until this morning. Weren't those websites a hoot!
Re: Glasshouses comment
WOW, I can't wait. I'll probably preorder it from Amazon or something. My problem with all the series that I read, I lose track of when the next ones come out. Did Rachel Caine tell you what she intended instead?
Hi, DL ~ Check out my post to Richard on the "What are you reading now?" thread of the Romance group.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS: I'm almost finished with [The Shadow Within], and I have to say that I'm enjoying it a lot ~ much more than I thought I would, because I don't usually read YA stuff. The writing's good, the story's great!, I really like all the characters, esp. the main four (even Reece, after his comeuppance, but not not not Amber ~ what a nasty wench) (and not Jessie's father, the jerk; her mom's well rid of him) ~ obviously, I'm way into the characters. :) I should be finished with it by the end of the day, and I'll put up a review on my page.
I love the mediator series! Thanks for joining my Book Stacks group.
Great nick. Thank you for joining my new group, Where LibraryThing Leads... Welcome and I look forward to chatting with you in groups.
A lot of times it's worth the travel time to get to hear authors read and discuss their work. Elizabeth Kostova ("The Historian") was in my neck of the woods a couple of months ago and I really enjoyed her talk. Made me want to go back to grad school, to tell you the truth.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Marjorie's work. She's a feisty, forthright woman--does that voice come out in her commercial writing?
I think the first is Goddess by Mistake. Cast doesn't list them in her books so I'm not certain and I'm hoping they can be read in any order. I don't know if you should start there( Goddess by Mistake) because I haven't heard much about that book. I picked up everything Barnes & Noble had, which wasn't much: Goddess of Spring, Goddess of the Sea and Goddess of the Rose. I went Borders and they had nothing. You might have more luck on Amazon if you're interested. Goddess of Spring envolves Percephone and Hades and has raving reviews all over the web. Tell me what you think when you get around to them.
Btw, I love your graphic. Very nice!!
DL, Thank you. It was really nice! I hope yours was great, too!
THank you! Enjoy your Thanksgiving. And happy shopping tomorrow. lol - Jessa
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, too.

CC
Have an AWESOME Thanksgiving. I hope you are able to read some good books. I just got my wisdom teeth out so I cheecked out some really good books to read. Mostly Jennifer Crusie! I think she's got to be my favorite author. Have you ever read anything by her. Her books are really good. They have a lot of plot and a few spicy scenes!
Hi DL,
after viewing your comments on the children books vs film talk i had to mention ....
You have read "HOLES!"
i studied it at school and thought it was a great book - i haven't yet seen the film but i entend to over Christmas.

Have a nice day

I read the first one and own the second and fourth but the third is almost 20 dollars. I am trying to find it for much less seeing as I didn't even spend 8 dollars for the other three books combined. I liked the first one and thought that if someone liked the Vamp. Diaries they would like THe Shadow Within too. If you know someone who has The Fury and wants to get rid of it, let me know. I have to hunt one down because I can't just not finish the series. - Jessa
I finished Dark Celebration. You are right it was good. I even will forgive her for leaving me hanging at the end there.
Hey DL,

I started the Dark Celebration. So I'd like to talk about it soon. Did you find it kinda stilted in the beginning with Mikhail going from home to home?
Have you ever read anything by Caroline B. Cooney? She has some really good vampire books called The Cheerleader, The Return of the Vampire, and The Vampire's Promise. I thought they were really good because you felt like you were actually a part of the story. In each, a girl was longing to belong and fit in. When the vampire helps them, they realize that he doesn't care about them, just their blood. There are some good life lessons. I too love the Georgia Nicolson Diary books. They are just so funny. I can't help but wonder where the author got all of the crazy "code names" for things. It is quite funny to use them with friends and then realize that half of the people around you know what you are talking about. Right now I am reading Godless for Book Club and it is pretty good. I love a book that makes you laugh out loud. One of my all time favorites is The Blue Girl by Charles de Lint. It falls under that paranormal catagory that you like. I think it's more of a fantasy/fairy obsession than anything else but it is really intense. I highly recommend it if you haven't already read it.
Toodles!
P.S. Glad you like the Orlando pic!
Thanks for joining my group. The more the merrier. Any other characters you have fallen for in the past? I think Kartik from A Great And Terrible Beauty was a real swoon. What other books are you interested in?
P.S. I am finishing Only a Duke will Do and tomorrow I should be getting your book so I am going to hold off starting another til I can read The Shadow Within.
That sounds great Demon. I know all about piles of books. I am only 7 books away from 400 total and those 7+ are in the mail coming to me. If you want me to send you Outlander just let me know. I love sending books to people who will read them and it is time I get a hardback of it for my collection.

Love Always - Jessa

Good luck with the reading.
Ok...well it is not an easy book to discribe because so much happens but the main focus is about the lives of Claire and Jamie and in the first book it is about how they meet and come together. Claire is a nurse married to a man named Frank Randell in 1946 at the end of the war. They go to Scotland for a second honeymoon because they spent the war apart from each other. During the vacation, Claire goes by herself to the standing stones to watch women preform some sort of ceremony and when she gets close to the stones she hears a buzzing and is taken back in time to the 1740's or so. She ends up meeting Jack Randell (her husband's ansestor) and eventually Jamie who she later marries (wonderful, long, complicated story. Cannot tell you without giving too much away). The story then continues and there is a great supporting cast throught all the books that add so much color to the story and you can also tell it was well researched. It is told from Claire's perspective. It is a long story with a lot of little things that make you feel as though Claire and Jamie are old friends of yours. I think that is part of why it is so popular. Overall it is a fantastic story and I feel it has only drawn me in more as I read on. There are some extremely powerful moments in the second and third book that stay with me always. In every book there is something major that will effect you whether it will make you laugh or cry. I truely recommend that you read it and would even be willing to send you my copy of the first book Outlander. It is a worn edition but in good reading shape but I think I am read for a collectable signed hardback for my collection. Let me know and thanks for the interest. I just LOVE these books more than anything else. They are that good.

Love Always - Jessa
I know you like the Confessions of Georgie Nicolson books so my question to you is....what do you think about the new covers they are coming out with? I liked the cartoon style covers so it is hard for me to get used to the live models they are using now.
I have it on my book order for my middle school so it is good to know that you liked it. I finished The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl and I liked it. I was a little dissatisfied with the ending, but...oh well. I'm reading Everlost by Shusterman now.
Hey, I just saw your photo on myspace with Stephenie Meyer. I'm going to see her on Friday in Austin, TX and then on Saturday at the Texas Book Festival!! Boy, I just hope I get my picture taken with her too!!!!!
Hi,

I've just set up a new forum, Children's Fiction, for readers and writers and I thought you might be interested in joining. There are several boards, including general fiction, Sci-Fi and fantasy, flash fiction and a board for chatting about anything and everything.

Please check out the forum:

Thanks,

I've heard from another librarian colleague that she didn't like Snatched by Pete Hautman. I'll be anxious to see what you think about it. I'll have to go see what Glass Houses is about. I've heard it mentioned, but can't remember what it is about.
You say it is a totally different story in Peeps. Does that mean it isn't the same boy as the main character??? OH!!! I'm a little disappointed. I just read the inside cover! Oh well. Anyway, I'm like 5 pages away from finishing I Am The Messenger! OH MY!! I loved it! I'm going to try THe BOok Thief soon. I have it, I just have to find it again. Next I might read The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl and Fat Camp. The authors are going to be speaking with Stephenie Meyer at the Texas Book Festival on October 28th. I thought I better read the books before I hear them talk!m Have you read I Am The Messenger yet? What about Book Thief?
Have you had a chance to read Last Days by Scott Westerfeld yet? I think I'll need to skim Peeps again before I start it. I'm anxious to see what you think about it.
I read A Certain Slant of Light in a very short time. I really enjoyed it. I thought the author is AMAZING to have come up with that idea. We talked a little about original ideas before and this is one of the cases where the author was completely unique. (I think anyway) There were times that my heart strings were being tugged. Several times I was teary eyed. The fact that she was Mr. Brown's muse was so touching. When she left him and went with the young man that could see her in class I thought I was going to die. I'm so glad they found her a body and that they got together, but I didn't know if I was going to be able to handle it at the end. I guess the end was the one part that I didn't like. I'm trying to remember what I didn't like about it, but it might have been that it ended too easy? Or too quick? I've loaned it out to several people since then and they have all loved it and it is out now so I can't look back to check the ending. What do you think? DId you like it?
I'm shocked that we have no books in common!
Demonlover - I think that you and I have VERY similar tastes. I'm so happy that I found this site. It really makes me happy to see other people enjoying the same books I do.
I loved seeing Stephenie Meyer and hope that I can see her again. When she spoke to us she just answered questions I was kind of hoping for a reading from Twilight or New Moon, but great. I definately agree with your statement about her apprecitiation for her fans.

I have not read Peeps, but it has been recommended to me and I know quite a few students have checked it out because it is rarely on the shelf.
I can't wait for Friday!! Seeing Stephenie Meyer is very exciting to me. I just hope I am not disappointed. I work at a high school in Western WI and a few of the student here are so disappointed that I'm going and they can't. They have been discussing it on our blog http://hhsreads.blogspot.com. You can read the comments and posts but for security reasons we only allow students and staff to post, but you might enjoy some of their comments on New Moon and Twilight. They have also posted a few links to fan sites and Stephenie Meyer's official site.

Happy reading! I hope you enjoy the Stephenie Meyer visit to CT.
Becky (SheReads)
Thanks for the suggestion on The Mediator series by Meg Cabot (you mentioned them on a post in the Read YA Group). I picked up the first one a few days ago, blasted through it and am now 1/2 way through book 4. Just out of curiosity, which series do you prefer? 1-800-WHERE-R-U or The Mediator?
Hey there,

Many thanks for the recommendations; my niece loves the Louise Rennington books so I might borrow one of her shelf when I'm next there. I've had my eye on Twilight so it's nice to have confirmation that it's a decent title. Thanks for stopping by my page; if you like paranormal stuff you might enjoy Patricia Briggs Moon Called and Lilith Saintcrow's Working for the Devil both have been my paranormal recommends for the year!
