Tietoja minusta The 18th of April, 1981, was a wet afternoon. Having worked for two years in an office building above both a bookshop and a second-hand bookshop, I'd managed to amass a fair few books, many of which were still unread. I'd just finished...something. I looked over the shelves, but I couldn't decide what to read. I finally reached out for...something. Which I'd already read. I froze, suddenly struck with how ridiculous this was. I emptied the bookshelves, put the books back in alphabetical order and decided to start with the first, whether I'd read it or not. I kept a record of this, becoming positively anal. I got to L before realising that there was no reason why I should have ignored all the hardbacks and non-fiction from this process. Fifteen years later, my parents died within six months of each other and I inherited their books. I'm only back at C, bar a few A-C's that sneak in because they are later additions or from Mum and Dad. Since then, my reading has slowed to almost a halt. That's a bad thing and needs to be rectified. I love to organise and joining LibraryThing is my first step on the path to reawakening a former passion.

Tietoja kirjastostani It's out-of-date, but it's mine.

I'm also ok with your putting my reviews on the GRTB! wiki - as long as it's ok that the reviews are short, general impressions of the books.
"It's perfect, thank you. By the way, do you want "Blurb from Amazon" and "My Review" in bold?"

That would be great thanks!

Danielle
Hi! So sorry I am so long in responding - of course you may post my Go Review That Book review. Love the new page - great job :)
hey there

feel free to put my reviews on the wiki!
Hi Inigo,

I've posted my review for Lady Be Good in the Wiki (#256). Maybe if you get a chance you could take a quick look to make sure I didn't mess anything up :). I think I did it properly though.

Danielle
Feel free to use my reviews.
Thanks Inigo - I'll jump back in eventually. Glad to know I'm not the only one who takes ...time to review my assignment and glad to know I'm gone but not forgotten. I'll try to give my book a fair chance and see what I can post - maybe next month. :)

The Wiki page is great too. I really like reading all the group reviews in order! Thanks for doing all that work!
Hiya,

I'm happy to have my reviews, such as they are, included!

Liz
love your name!
Hi again,

I'm glad you liked my Sleep Tight review. At least some good came of that book.

Danielle
Hi~

I don't have the 2 reivews from my Yahoo! 360 page.

Sorry,
Marcia
What a great idea! Please feel free to include any of my current or (someday soon, I promise...) forthcoming reviews.
Hi~

Posting my reviews on the Wiki page is fine.

Marcia
Well, that is weird! I just left the group and rejoined, and now I show up in the members. Strange!
Well, hi, Inigo! I haven't been here for a while because I've had my own agenda, but I'll be back when that's done with. Yes, certainly use my reviews, it's a great idea.
That's a really great idea! Now I don't have to click on the link to read the review, then hit back button again and again. Great thinking! Yes, of course, you have my permission to use my reviews.
Hi! That's really cool! I haven't left GRTB, I'm just taking longer than I should with my assignment LOL. You can use my reviews no problem!
Hi Inigo -
You definitely have my permission to use my reviews. I think I've been absent from the group for a while because I'm shamefacedly too bored by the book I was asked to review to get past the introduction. I suppose I should just jump back in and ask for something new.... Thanks for your work in creating the Wiki page. It looks great!
el :)
I can't get to the wiki due to some unknown problem on my part. However, you have my permission to put my reviews on the wiki.
A review wiki sounds groovy. Thanks for asking first!
The Go Review That Book! wiki sounds like a great idea! You've got my permission to add my reviews.
I think the Wiki page is an awesome idea and you're more than welcome to add my reviews :)

Danielle
I would be more than happy to have my GRTB! reviews on the Wiki. Thanks for your efforts in making that happen. --Nancy
Please - feel free to use my reviews (such as they are). Those currently posted and those that may be posted later are yours for the taking.

I think your efforts with the Wiki are admirable. Thanks for taking on this challenge for the group.
I urge you to extinguish your shame and read The Princess Bride. Inigo is so much more fully realized in the book. We learn more of his history and his character than the movie allows. (The Princess Bride is my favorite book and Inigo my favorite character, mostly because of the excellent Mandy Patinkin, so I may be a smidge biased in my argument here.)
Welcome back to LT! I hope your life has settled enough to be able to continue reading! - there's heaps of new features been introduced as well, just in case you need to spend more time online.
I love your biog. It's delightfully excentric!
That's been a long week since July when you were "just mopping up" from a "fandom". I hope all is well with you.

Go Review that Book, has really taken off, with 48 members and a high turnover of good reviews.
Re Little Fuzzy

Yes, it was written by H. Beam Piper. I entered the book into my list way back when LibraryThing was just starting out, and so I may have left out some details.

Rgds,

Ron
You still around? We're missing you over on Go Review that Book.
Thankyou for uploading the cover of 'The History And Lore Of Freaks' I didn't think it would be available but not so. :)
Yes, that's the Anne McCaffrey Dragonsong
Six fingers? Me? Why no, of course not... Oh, there's the phone. Gotta run.
Thanks, Inigo. And please forgive my unforgivably belated response. As you probably noticed, I've made no effort to include jacket/cover photos in my listing (those that appear do so apparently of their own volition), so your generous offer is wasted on me. Still, I'm grateful to have received it and I thank you sincerely. I'm also very impressed by your rapidly expanding catalog, and I look forward to tracking your progress. cheers ...

"You killed my father. Prepare to die." Nice user name! Thanks for starting the book review group. I think it will be fun.

Lily
Strangely I added the Spike Milligan Monty book via ISBN so for the life of me I cannot figure out how the name was wrong. Thanks for spotting this for me. Sorted out now Cheers.
Yes, we do have the same book - I just didn't take the time to chronicle it properly! But mine's from the Women's Press and contains the original, contemporary "Life" of Emily Davison as well as the modern one.
Thanks, I will check out the Ernst cover.
oh I see I see! I just scanned and added it.
I've added pretty covers before too, some of them deserve the picture!
Hey I added the Ernst pic you made to mine, it looks just like what I've got, thanks!
It's such a pretty little book.
G'day

Thanks for the heads up on the Spike Milligan cover, much appreciated. Mine is a bit tattered and I hadn't got around to taking a photo and uploading it.
Hi,
Sorry I haven't replied sooner, but I've been out today in Brackley and Banbury book-hunting.
I believe that the shop that you mean on the corner of Abington Street and St Giles Terrace was Fagins.(Quite a good shop it was too)
Funnily enough one of my bookish projects at the moment is "A History of Northampton Bookshops" This from 1700 or so. It does however include shops in existence in living memory and Fagins is in my records complete with a photograph which I took at the time.
Hello,
It's nice to hear from somone else living in the literary desert of Northampton.I often do a quick search for other members living in the area, but until now, without much luck.I'm pleased that you are interested in our library, which has taken many years to achieve. We also travel fairly extensively to obtain the books that interest us as can be seen on the profile page. The Town used to have several quite good shops in fact, but it is now as bad as it's ever been. The only half-decent shop is the Kingsthorpe Bookshop, and thats closing soon. I do get some of the more difficult titles from ABE and I also use Amazon of course.
A lot of people that I know don't have a book in the house, and in fact in a funny sort of way seem to be frightened of books and reading. The very worst statement that I'm always having quoted at me is ' have you read them all ?' I mean, words fail me.
Librarything I think is great, mind you it was really hard work entering all those books - but well worth it.
All the best
