Tietoja minusta One day I'll get around to filling up this space....
Tietoja kirjastostani My library is limited to those books that I actually own, though the tags denote that there are several hundred that I have not yet read. Although I do read pretty fast, I also buy books even faster. I also check quite a few books out of the public library, so that slows down my reading what I own. But I figure if I own it, then I'll read it someday. I buy a lot of impulse books as well, because I figure that I won't remember I want to read it if I don't buy and it disappears from the bookstore shelves. If it's on my own shelves I'll at least get to it eventually.
The amount of books I own is also the product of nine years in the book industry. I've been working for some variation of Barnes & Noble since high school and although I have a real job in a law firm, I have yet to give up my part-time job with B&N. Part of it is I love the atmosphere, the smell of books, the discussion with customers who love books as much as I do, and the great recommendations to them and from them. Most of it, though, is the discount! I haven't paid full price for a book in nine years and I can't possibly start now...at least not until I make enough money that the discount doesn't matter (and that will probably never happen). But the discount is great and the little bit of money I make there, during my one or two shifts a week, goes right back into the store as I spend more than I make there. So basically my job facilitates my habit, but that's the way I like it.
As far as the books I read from the library, you can find them on these lists...

I'm sure I'll find more to say on this eventually, but for now...I'm all typed out.

Of course I remember you. We talked paranormals and compared bookshelves. I believe you won that comparison. You're the first person I heard mention Library Thing, and I made a note of it -- just slow to get my profile up and running. I'm so glad you enjoyed Pandora's Box! Thanks for telling me -- you made my day. Yes, The Druid Made Me Do It will be out very soon. I'm nervous. I hope you like it, too. I do plan to get up to DC for stock signing, etc., just not sure when that will be yet. August is ugly busy for me, but I really loved going around and signing and talking books when the opportunity arose (like with you), so I'll make a point of it. Thanks for adding me and for all the kind words!
Best,
Natale

I know what you mean about going insane without being able to read; I read barely at all first year of law school, and was utterly miserable. I decided second year that I just needed to read more, even if that meant slacking off a bit, and what do you know, my grades second year were higher than first. Clearly reading leads to being happy, which leads to good grades! Either that or second year really isn't as bad as the first. Let's go with my first hypothesis; it gives us both an excuse to slack off and read.

Do you have any particular recommendations by Kenyon? Or other vampire fiction? I'm always looking for something new!

Anyway, my username is a Welsh name that means "white snow". I ran across it in a book years and years ago, liked the way it looks and sounds, and have been using it ever since!
I like your username, too -- the goddess of childbirth, yes?

What you said reminds of me of what I think when reading the "I was forced to read Stienbeck..." threads: don't blame the classics, it ain't the books, it's the teachers! Although people can have opinions and dislike certain books/authors, there has to be an explanation for why people dread the literature they read in high school (maybe it's just reading while on massive surges of hormones scars one for life...)

I hope you enjoy Tinker! I really liked both that one and the sequel, Wolf Who Rules. Any sort of urban fantasy with fairies is right up my alley :-)

I appreciate your enjoyment of the Merry books, and perhaps you're right in that had I begun and the beginning I'd be well versed in the style. And I concur, the details, the description and the fantasy world are very well described. It's like a techni-color dream spell in words. And yes, I will admit, the sex scenes are amazing and I do remember a brief sentence describing Merry's lineage from fertility gods, so I can see that sex it a major source of magick power for her.
I suppose I was so fascinated with what would happen at the Goblin Court and the Seelie Court that when I realized, too late, they weren't going to be included in this book, I felt somewhat let down; I like series but I'm not used to storylines being introduced but not concluded within a novel. But I haven't read much fantasy or romance and maybe I'm not acclimated to the style yet.
Thanks for adding your opinion and saying hi! I'll have to see if you're doing a book challenge and see what you're reading. :)
