Tietoja minusta I'm a web programmer and science fiction novelist living near Washington, D.C. My first novel Infoquake was published in summer 2006 by Pyr, an imprint of Prometheus Books. Barnes & Noble Explorations called the book "the love child of Donald Trump and Vernor Vinge," then later named it their Top SF Novel of 2006. Infoquake was also nominated for the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Novel. The book will be available in mass market paperback from Solaris Books in Summer 2008.

I've been nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer for 2008.

My second novel, MultiReal (the sequel to Infoquake), will be released in July 2008 by Pyr. You can also find my unpublished short story "Mathralon" in The Solaris Book of New Science Fiction, Volume 2, and read my introduction to Overlook Press' new edition of Mervyn Peake's Titus Alone.

In addition to writing novels, I've also programmed websites for the U.S. Army and the FBI, taught software to the U.S. Congress and the World Bank, written articles for the Washington Post and Baltimore Sun, and directed the marketing departments of biometric and e-commerce companies.

Tietoja kirjastostani I've got a thing for hardcovers. Doesn't necessarily need to be a first or limited edition... any ol' hardcover will do, as long as it's in excellent shape.

But if a hardcover isn't available, then a nice matched set of trade paperbacks will do just fine. I salivate over the day when I can finally complete my collection of the Vintage editions of Philip K. Dick's novels...

Always nice to find other fans of Martin. I still have A Feast for Crows left to read in ASOIF. How did you like it?

That's awesome about your latest novels. Congrats! I stick to reading historical fiction and fantasy 90+ percent of the time, but I am reading a sci-fi novel at the moment. It's actually the first sci-fi novel that I've read in many years. Mars by Ben Bova. Not sure if you've read that one or not. It's pretty interesting so far.

Do you ever think you'll take your writing full-time?

Random Books on your list pops up Wuthering Heights. I give you my thumbs' up! do.ob

... you know, I think I'm the only person on earth who understands it's a ghost story sometimes.
Hi, David. Just finished Infoquake, and I'm officially hooked on your Jump 225 Trilogy. I especially enjoyed your appendices, which really helped flesh out the cool vision of the future you created. Keep up the great work in the next two installments.
You haven't seen my invite on Amazon Portugal yet?

:-)
David,

What a wonderful profile and life experience. I will look up your book!!
Nice to see lots of books in common. Mind you, a large portion of my library is british children's books from the 60's and 70's, so I wouldn't expect to have many of those in common with a US SF author ;-)
hey, an ARC of your book came through the used bookstore where i work. it's nice to see a real human attached to the author's name, rather than a freakishly contrived photo on the back flap. you look like most of the people i was friends with in school. also nice to see that we share many delightful children's books, and justine.
congrats on the booksuccess!
Right, Right...I just saw that we had those books in common and looked at your library..I'm impressed by your collection.
Much success on your book "Infoquake" :-)
I see that we share a nice stack of books and have some favorite authors (Vonnegut, Dick, Faulkner, Barthelme, Borges, etc.). Really enjoyed looking through your catalog. Like the fedora (that is a fedora, right? I've got a little glare on my screen and can't really tell) in the profile pick as well. I've been becoming more partial to bowlers these days, but I've still got a soft spot for the fedoras. I still have one I purchased back in high school, many years worse for wear. Happy cataloging.
Dude, move off the slow east coast and come into the light.
Nope... just sitting here listening to Johnny Cash and feeling bookish. Have I broken the speed limit? ;-)
