Tietoja minustaI have been an avid reader since age six. Most other women find it hard to desist from buying clothes and shoes, I can't resist buying books. Whenever I travel somewhere by train (even if is's just the ten minute commute to work) I have to have a book with me. My house is slowly filling up with bookcases; they are in nearly every room now and I love it.
Apart from reading I also love long distance running, classical music, traveling to weird countries and mountain hiking. I earn my living as a lawyer (my Eng lit degree proved to be pretty useless on the job market), but as soon as I win those couple of millions in the lottery I am going to quit at once and really dig into my huge tbr pile.

Tietoja kirjastostaniI read mostly English literature, but I am interested in science, history, archaeology and philosophy, too, and I also like literature in translation.
At the moment I am still in the process of adding books. Most books I have read and own have been catalogued, excepting the crime and mystery novels that I read purely for relaxation and forget about as soon I have finished them. I have also decided (for the time being) not to add all those books I did not really like that much.

Anna,

Still trying to negotiate my way around this website. Your library caught my eye - how are you finding Proust ? He still on my list of books to read.
Regards
Ian
Hi anna... Joined 2 days ago and busy loading. I see we have lots in common. How did you get that map to display
How did you find Lorna Doone?
I'm a few chapters in and so far it's a very slow and difficult read. I was expecting romance and adventure and strife but for now it just sort of drags on...
Hi

Is The Hunger Games really that good? I keep on seeing consistently good reviews for it

PS. I'm beginning to think my English degree is useless too. I should've just opted for a 9 to 5 job at an office or something.

Hi Anna,

groeten,

Koen
Hi AnnavanGelderen, thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. I noticed we seemed to have similar tastes in books. I am jealous of how many countries you've visited :)

Cheers
Noticed you liked The Virgin Suicides, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a dysfunctional family and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Well, I've been hesitating about reading when will there be good news, but perhaps I'll buy it now - its on a good discount at my local bookshop.

Thanks for th response, Tom
A degree that is useless on the job market is indeed a real degree...
Anna,

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I left a reply there but also decided to post here. I'm so glad you liked The Idea of Perfection. It's on my 2008 top 5 list. I understand Grenville has a new book out, but I don't think it's available in the US ye (and I'm not sure about availability in Europe).

Happy New Year!
Laura
Hi Anna, I am also a member of Libarything! I like it! I don't spend lots of time on these web sites, but it is fun to keep in contact with fellow readers. How is your running going? I am still running, not racing as much anymore, however there is New Year's Eve Run, that starts at midnight. It's only a 5K but a real fun way to start the new year. Happy Holidays
Michael
Anna,

Dank je, insgelijks. Ik ben nog steeds aan het invoeren, een leuk en niet leuk werkje.

Henk
Hi Anna -- yes, I found your library and profile very interesting. Here's hoping for the lottery millions! I read your wonderful comment on my blog re: the Obama presidency (I get chills just writing that!). It's pretty amazing.

Goede dag Anna!

Ik heb Nederlands eenmal gestudeerd maar nu alle vergeten!

I really shouldn't do that, it hurts me although it probably makes you chuckle! It makes me despair (lightly) - I once read Couperus in the original! I have the English translation of Het stille Kracht lined up for a reread next year.

Lovely meeting you in blog/librarything land and thanks for your kind comments re the blog.

Thank you for commenting on my blog www.acommonreader.org.uk

I am sure that you will enjoy Antal Szerb's novel Journey by Moonlight - it really is very good.
