Biographies of eccentrics and outsiders

Kuvaus: Biographies of unusual or eccentric characters. The classic starting-point for the lighter side of the topic would be Edith Sitwell's 'English Eccentrics' ... but there are plenty of darker accounts of strange, unique or solitary lives. For example Hugh Trevor-Roper's 'A Hidden Life: The Enigma of Sir Edmund Backhouse' (aka 'The Hermit of Peking') or Julia Blackburn's wonderful study of the traveller Charles Waterton.
