Warning, this book is being reviewed by a life-long vegetarian.
Release the judgementalness!!!!

This is the Very First Keto cookbook that I have read. I like cookbooks, right? I usually find a few recipes. Let's see how this cookbook fares.

The book claims the benefits of a Keto diet include:
☞Better Mental Clarity ☞More Restful Sleep
☞Weight Loss ☞Steady Energy supply
☞Lower Risk of Chronic Disease

Keto diets consist of low carbohydrates (5% of diet), medium protein(20% of diet), and high healthy fat (75% of diet), and is def not vegetarian. One positive is that the diet does encourage lowering your sugar intake.

So, the cookbook has recipes for meals, desserts, salads and snacks, etc. Helpfully (for me), the author / editor flagged the meaty sections, so they could be skipped over, if necessary.

I see a lot of bacon, liberal use of coconut products, and butter everywhere (and I do mean everywhere, keep reading). Wow, so many of the salads list bacon as an ingredient!

Here is a snapshot of some of the recipes:
For breakfast, an egg dish with ham, butter, heavy cream, and cheese. To accompany that, why not try the Buttery Vanilla Latte. That is coffee, butter and vanilla. Mixed together for you to drink. Then for a snack, have 8 radishes with 8 teaspoons of butter. Dinner time, relax and partake of the magical combination of duck fat, bacon, kielbasa, pork ribs and sauerkraut.

Wait, WHAT are Zucchini Noodle Carbonara and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna doing in the pork section? No, never mind, I don't want to know.

There is a recipe for a pizza crust made completely out of sausage. The recipe keeps referring to the word 'crust,' but I don't think it means what they think it does.

Page 192, I just found my first vegan recipe, for Romanesco broccoli with rosemary and garlic. It doesn't look bad at all, but perhaps that feeling can be attributed to meat viewing fatigue. Nice, there are a few vegan sides that look good.

I made it to the desserts, none of them have meat in them! Done!

At first glance, I think this book might be way too unctuous for me, After reading it, I am sure of it!

And I am still recovering from "Whipped lard is combined with butter, orange zest and rosemary for a unexpectedly delicious ketogenic dip." Serve with salami!

It seems like a scheme to allow people to eat bacon-brie burgers every day. Reads more like the menu at a sports bar than a 'healthy lifestyle diet book.'

All right, do your Keto thing if you must. Here is a book for you.
