He is visiting professor of Christian Education at Union/PSCE in Richmond, Virginia, and a retired associate pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sacramento. Very informative series! This one was really helpful in explaining several aspects of this piece of the bible in particular! I recommend to anyone that may be doing a bible study, to look into this series or this book in particular! I found some very current & realistic examples that could be related to. Can be used by those just welcoming their faith, or by ones that want to have a better understanding of it!

NCLA Review -Presbyterian seminary instructor Donald L. Griggs is known for his Bible study resources The Bible from Scratch: The Old Testament for Beginners (2002) and The Bible from Scratch: The New Testament for Beginners (2003). Expanding upon this foundation, Griggs has published four additional resources: Mark’s Gospel from Scratch (2010), Genesis from Scratch (2010), Matthew’s Gospel from Scratch (2011) and Luke’s Gospel from Scratch (2011). Each volume is divided into two parts. Part One, the participant’s guide, is written by various authors. Presbyterian Pastor and college professor Earl S. Johnson co-authors Matthew’s Gospel from Scratch. This section provides an overview and commentary on the 28 chapters of Matthew. Part Two is the leader’s guide written by Griggs. He provides leaders with creative lesson plans, worksheets, suggested activities, discussion points, and prayers. Though these are excellent resources for small group Bible studies, note that there is homework for all participants. Unless the leader is already knowledgeable, he/she will need to do additional preparation prior to each session. For these reasons, a DVD based study may be more appealing to today’s busy Bible study participants and leaders. Rating: 4 —BM… (lisätietoja)
