Though he works as a computer analyst, he’s long been in theater, writing his first play in 1990. He is co-author of a children’s musical, The Talent Machine, which ran each summer for a number of years in Annapolis, MD, and eventually spawned a theater company of the same name. His latest play is entitled Spooky Action at a Distance—a Las Vegas comedy. The Marriage of True Minds is the author’s debut novel.

He's made appearances on the Bob & Tom Radio Network, The Tom Leykis Show, and The Joey Reynolds Show. XM Satellite Radio plays his CDS almost daily; and recently XM gave him his own comedy special. In 2007, he performed in The New York Underground Comedy Festival, and just wrapped his second tour of European clubs and theaters. He writes for both Punchline Magazine and ComedyFilmNerdsDotCom.com and was recently featured in The Wall Street Journal article, "Comedy Comes Clean."
Brett Leake worked as a standup comic from 1983 until 1997 when he began working as a sit-down standup comic: in 1991, he became the first disabled comic to appear on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He's also performed at the Smithsonian, the Kennedy Center, and Wolftrap. Corporate clients include IBM, Toyota, and Ford. In 2003, public broadcasting stations around the country began running his hour-long comedy special "Laughing Matters with Brett Leake."
