still not loving the books written from a man's perspective (is that bad?) was not a GREAT book, but it was good - i downloaded it when it was free on the kindle. good father/son bonding book and also honest perspective of the things we tell ourselves about our past and assumptions we make about our pasts and what they say about ourselves.

Surprisingly good for a book I either got for free or really, really cheap for my kindle a long time back. I finally read it and I was pleasantly surprised. The plot moved nicely and wasn't cliched in the least bit. The main characters were nicely developed through the course of the book. A nice light read that wasn't silly or maudlin or poorly written.

This is an absolutely amazing book. Dad is a mess, Jake starts off seemingly even messier. But somehow it ends on a note of hope, and competence. A very enjoyable read.

This was a great story. Humorous, sad, entertaining and very enjoyable to read.

Joey Ambrosio is a children's book writer and illustrator. He has had a very successful career and is well known to many. He becomes even more well known when he climbs to the top of Brooklyn Bridge to spread his father's ashes.

This starts what could be called "Joey's midlife crises". One of the major things he does is buy his childhood home that is located in a very seedy part of Brooklyn and have the bars on the windows removed. Not a really smart thing to do, Joey is white, probably the only one in the neighborhood.

The story describes Joey's life both past and present and I enjoyed reading and living in Joey's world.

Huge thanks to Lyrical Press and Net Galley for the approval and providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
